Ubuntu Backup Before Upgrade

UBBU stands for Ubuntu Backup Before Upgrade. With this program will allow and create a backup of your home directory, etc, and your package list before upgrading to Ubuntu next release.

This program has only been tested on Ubuntu distro. If you would like to obtain the latest update please go and visit my PPA at Launchpad and add this package to your source.

Installation

Double click on the file or use the terminal for installation.

Usage

In order to use the program make sure that you are already on the media that you would like to make the backup. I would recommend you to check how much space your home and etc directories are taking. Then make sure that the media where you are going to back has enough space to perform the backup. Also, make sure that you have root access if you are going to backup your /etc directory.

  1. Extract the content from the ZIP file
  2. Install the application
  3. Once the application is install... open the "Terminal"
  4. Go to the media where you would like to perform the backup. In my case is "disk1". Replace "disk1" with your media drive.

    cd /media/disk1

  5. now type

    ubbu

  6. Then follow the proccess and then you are done.
